PowerSave Advantage: students awarded for energy efficiency video
The Alliance to Save Energy’s PowerSave Schools, in partnership with Siemens, held a video competition with the goal of encouraging school students to showcase their knowledge and work to improve energy efficiency in their school. Three schools were selected to participate in the competition: from New York, llionois and Maine. The contest focused on three factors: creativity, content, and engagement.
The big winners of the PowerSave Advantage video competition were a team 14 students from Ludwig Elementary in Lockport, IL, led by their teacher Mary Creek. “My students and I are thrilled to know that our video won the PowerSave contest. We had a wonderful time creating the video, including all of the information we learned together about saving energy,” said Creek.
The team received a school-wide Mr. Eco concert as the prize. But that’s not the only reward that can be seen from the competition. “I know the students’ experiences and knowledge about saving energy will stay with them long after they leave Ludwig School,” the teacher added.
Siemens’ PowerSave Advantage helps schools educate students about energy efficiency, empower students through leadership opportunities, and return thousands of dollars in energy savings to schools. These goals are achieved through STEM-based lesson plans and hands-on applications that let students turn their knowledge into power.
