Water & Energy
Water savings can also save energy.
The Alliance’s work
Where efficiency meets policy.
The Alliance coined Watergy to describe energy used to pump, treat, heat, and move water. Leaks, inefficient pumps, and poor controls can raise costs for utilities and their customers.
An established approach
ASE’s Watergy work identifies operating changes, metering, leak reduction, efficient pumping, and treatment improvements that can cut both water and energy use.
Policy landscape
Water and wastewater capital plans, state revolving funds, utility rates, and procurement can shape projects. The Alliance is monitoring these opportunities without representing a new active Watergy campaign.
Full value
Project evaluations should account for water and energy savings over an asset’s life, plus reliability and service quality.
