Transportation
Move people and goods using less energy.
The Alliance’s work
Where efficiency meets policy.
The Alliance convened its bipartisan 50x50 Transportation Commission from 2017 to 2019. It set a goal of halving transportation energy use by 2050 while meeting mobility needs.
The 50x50 record
Commission recommendations address technology innovation, efficient infrastructure, charging, and state and local solutions. They remain a policy foundation; the historic commission is not described as a current campaign.
What we are watching
Surface-transportation authorization, vehicle standards, charging investments, transit funding, and state implementation affect the energy required for mobility. ASE is monitoring these choices through affordability and energy productivity.
Practical opportunities
Efficient vehicles and freight, less congestion, useful transit, and coordinated charging can reduce costs without sacrificing access.
