February 26, 2016 | Washington

Please join us for a Congressional Briefing on The Role of Benchmarking,Transparency and Codes in Driving a More Efficient Built Environment. The purpose of the briefing is to educate and engage congressional staff and energy efficiency professionals on the work and progress being done in this area, while also discussing solutions and best practices that can help further advance energy efficiency in the built environment.

AGENDA:

February 22, 2016 | Washington

The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) invites you to a briefing discussing how environmental justice (EJ) is addressed through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Clean Power Plan, the nation's first-ever rules limiting carbon pollution from power plants (which are the largest source of carbon dioxide emissions in the United States). The Clean Power Plan will not only cut millions of tons of carbon dioxide emissions, but also hundreds of thousands of tons of particulate pollution that becomes soot and smog.

February 22, 2016 | Washington

In August 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized its state-specific emission guidelines for carbon dioxide emitted from existing fossil fuel-fired electric generating units. On February 9th, the Supreme Court ordered the Obama administration not to take any steps to carry out its Clean Power Plan, a development that may delay progress on the rule until after the president leaves office next January. In addition, the court’s stay may indicate legal hurdles facing parts of the rule.
