EPA's much anticipated rule to regulate carbon dioxide emissions from existing power plants is due to be proposed on June 2nd. This webinar will focus on the potentially very large role that energy efficiency can play to meet standards while offering economic benefits.

The EPA will be using Section 111(d) of the Clean Air Act, a part of the Act that places a large responsibility on states to implement standards. It is widely expected that EPA will afford implementation flexibility to the states, including the ability to use end-use energy efficiency as a means to reduce compliance costs and achieve other environmental, economic, and energy reliability benefits.

The Alliance to Save Energy, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, and the law firm of Van Ness Feldman LLP will offer a webinar on EPA's new proposed rule including:

  • An overview of the proposal,
  • How energy efficiency could be incorporated in state implementation plans, and
  • A discussion of energy efficiency opportunities and their potential impacts.

Presenters will include:

  • Kyle Danish, Partner, Van Ness Feldman LLP
  • Rodney Sobin, Director of Research & Regulatory Affairs, Alliance to Save Energy
  • Sara Hayes, Senior Manager and Researcher, American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy
