Alliance Adds Four Energy Efficiency Innovators to Board

Release Date: Thursday, June 13, 2019

WASHINGTON – The Alliance to Save Energy announced Thursday that its Board of Directors has elected four new members from companies at the forefront of using energy more efficiently and smartly.

The Board welcomed David J. Anderson, Executive Vice President and Director at Ameresco; Roger Karner, US Market President of Signify; Clay Nesler, Vice President, Global Sustainability and Regulatory Affairs at Johnson Controls; and Wesley Walker, Senior National Director, Siemens Smart Infrastructure. The board also elected member Anne Pramaggiore, Senior Executive Vice President and CEO of Exelon Utilities, as its vice chair.

“Energy efficiency today is about dynamic integration of multiple smart solutions, from cutting-edge lighting and equipment to smart controls and buildings systems that manage energy effectively, and the leaders we’re welcoming today reflect those new ideas,” said Alliance to Save Energy President Jason Hartke. “I’m proud to have these experts joining our leadership and look forward to capitalizing on the knowledge they bring.”

As a member of Ameresco’s founding management team, David J. Anderson directs the company’s business development initiatives and serves as the General Manager for several business units in the United States and United Kingdom. Additionally, he serves as a Director on Ameresco’s Board of Directors.

“I’ve spent my entire career in the energy field, focused on promoting, developing and delivering economically and environmentally beneficial energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions to the marketplace,” said Anderson. “The Alliance to Save Energy is doing tremendous work to expand our economy, while at the same time, reducing energy consumption and cost. I look forward to bringing my career-long dedicated industry experience in this area, to help the Board advance the Alliance’s mission.”

Roger Karner oversees Signify’s complete portfolio of lighting solutions – from conventional lighting products to connected LED lighting systems and services – working closely with customers to address their evolving lighting needs and new challenges especially as the industry continues to transform.

“Sustainability is fundamental to the prosperity of our economy, society, and planet,” said Karner. “Signify is incredibly proud to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation, from our carbon neutral operations to our energy efficient lighting products, systems and services provided to people and businesses around the world. Together with the Alliance, we have an opportunity to accelerate progress and effect even greater change when we work together toward a shared purpose.”

Since joining Johnson Controls in 1983, Clay Nesler has held a variety of leadership positions in research, product development, marketing, strategy, and corporate sustainability in both the United States and Europe. He helped establish the UN Sustainable Energy for All Building Efficiency Accelerator and is a member of the Alliance’s International Steering Committee.

“I am excited to be joining the Alliance to Save Energy Board and look forward to working with its associates, partners and stakeholders to double down on energy efficiency,” said Nesler.

Wesley Walker is the business head of Siemens’s Building Performance and Sustainability business line for the Americas.

“I’m very excited personally, and on behalf of Siemens Smart Infrastructure, to support the Alliance to Save Energy and its ambitious targets to positively impact energy efficiency and global climate change,” said Walker. “The Alliance’s mission is important, not just today, but moving forward as we work collectively to drive innovation and focus into this ever-evolving area that effects our environment and lives.”

Two new Board members will succeed departing members from their companies: Clay Nesler succeeds Randy Leslie and Wesley Walker succeeds Dana Soukup.
