Former Communications and Government Affairs Intern

MJ was a Communications and Government Affairs intern with the Alliance. Prior to joining the Alliance, MJ worked as a political canvasser with Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition, talking with Tennessee voters and legislators about immigration policy. She also served as an AmeriCorps VISTA member for a year with Open Table Nashville, researching and teaching about the intersections of healthcare, housing, and criminal justice policies and their impact on increasing rates of homelessness.

MJ grew up in Gulfport, MS, and now lives in Louisville, KY. She graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Communication Studies and a concentration in Public Policy. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Public Administration and Policy at American University.
