Alliance to Save Energy's new website, ase.org/checkup, offers a wealth of convenient information for consumers seeking to save money and the environment by reducing their home's energy waste. Home Energy Checkup is a free resource that allows the handyman (or woman) to troubleshoot their home's energy waste while calculating efficiency improvements.

"Home Energy Checkup takes the guesswork out of home energy-efficiency improvements," says Alliance President David M. Nemtzow.

Designed to provide a quick analysis of energy-efficiency retrofit potential in a single-family home, Home Energy Checkup considers climate types and energy prices while calculating the dollar and pollution savings that can flow from improving a home.

"Energy production and use account for nearly 80 percent of air pollution, more than 88 percent of heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions, and more environmental damage than any other human activity," reports Nemtzow. "Fortunately, affordable energy-efficient technologies and products can provide more comfortable homes while meeting our modern-day energy needs."

"The Alliance understands that consumers face many choices in home improvement — both efficient and inefficient," said Nemtzow. "The Alliance's new website offers consumers information that cuts through the clutter to offer both basic and hi-tech advice. This is just what the doctor — the home doctor — ordered."
