The American Water Works Association and Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments invite you to join a discussion of water and wastewater utility energy efficiency programs, both today and potential for the future. This workshop will highlight successes and challenges in the region, with an emphasis on how water and wastewater utilities could participate in state and energy sector efficiency incentive programs.
With EPA's Clean Power Plan anticipated to greatly expand the need for energy efficiency, the water sector could become an important component of these plans. Based upon EPA's regulatory analysis, this regulation will cost water utilities several hundred million dollars per year by 2020, and cost electric utilities and their ratepayers billions.
We are bringing together representatives from local water and energy utilities to demonstrate past energy efficiency and/or renewable energy projects that have been completed or are proposed for a future date.
