During Dr. Chu’s tenure at the Department of Energy, the U.S. and China announced several clean energy initiatives including the U.S.-China Clean Energy Research Center, Electric Vehicles Initiative, the Energy Efficiency Renewable Energy Partnership, 21st Century Coal, Shale Gas Resource Initiative, and the Energy Cooperation Program.

About the Organizers:

The China-U.S. Energy Efficiency Alliance is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to protecting human health and the global environment by working with China to harness energy efficiency as a preferred energy resource.  The initial idea for the Alliance was borne at an E2 Ecosalon when a team from the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and leaders from the business community saw an opportunity to engage U.S. companies and utilities in a Public-Private Partnership to further the development of energy efficiency in China and share experience from the U.S.  As a Public-Private Partnership, the Alliance has been able to engage experts from business, government, academia and other groups in these efforts.  Official operations began in early 2005.  chinauseealliance.org/

E2 is the independent business voice for the environment. We provide a non-partisan resource for understanding the business perspective on environmental issues. Working with our public and private partners, E2 advocates for state and national policy that’s good for the economy and good the environment. www.e2.org.
