The Evening with the Stars of Energy Efficiency Awards Dinner has been the preeminent showcase for energy efficiency’s most industrious advocates and innovators since 1993.

This prestigious, black-tie affair is held in Washington, D.C., and typically draws 500 energy notables from industry, government and academia for an evening of fine dining and celebration.

Leadership

The Star of Energy Efficiency award recipients are selected each year by the Dinner and Awards Committee, which includes 15 diverse industry representatives. The committee reviews all nominations, selects finalists, and ultimately selects the recipients in each award category.

  • Gina McCarthy, Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is the recipient of the 2014 Charles H. Percy Award for Public Service for her unwavering commitment to energy efficiency and the recent announcement of the proposed Clean Power Plan, which has the potential to transform the energy efficiency market.

    Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, Inc., will receive the Chairman's Award from Alliance Honorary Vice-Chair Mark Warner (D-VA.) in recognition of his innovative products and designs at Tesla, SpaceX and SolarCity that are leading to a more sustainable energy economy. 

    MGM Resorts International is the recipient of the Galaxy Star award for reducing energy use in their Las Vegas properties over 420 million kWh and reducing annual carbon equivalent emissions by 100,000 metric tons through their Green Advantage sustainability platform.

    Nest Labs, Inc. is being honored with the Super Nova Star award for the learning capability of its Nest Learning Thermostat along with its energy partnerships and Nest energy services, which have helped consumers across the country save money and reduce their energy usage.

    National Housing Trust is this year's Andromeda Star award recipient for creating partnerships between utilities and state governments that have resulted in utilities committing $40 million to reduce energy consumption in multifamily rental housing, and for achieving a combined annual average savings of 54,000 MMBtu and almost 34,500 MWh.

    The Olympic Movement is the recipient of the I-Star award for its ongoing efforts on managing the carbon footprint associated with hosting and organizing the Olympic Games. More recently, Host Cities are partnering with industry-leaders to adopt low carbon and energy efficient technologies that mitigate the Games’ footprint while creating long-lasting legacies for their countries.

    Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is receiving the Innovative Star award for achieving net-zero annual energy usage through its energy-efficient Center for Sustainable Landscapes, which is designed to be the first building to exceed four of the highest green construction standards.
