California Energy Commission
The California Energy Commission is the state's principal energy policy and planning organization. The Commission was created by the Warren-Alquist Act, signed into law by then-Governor, Ronald Reagan and first implemented by his successor, Jerry Brown.
Since then, successive administrations with bipartisan legislative support have enacted more than 100 separate laws to direct and assist the Energy Commission in implementing state energy policy.
The Commission has 7 major areas of responsibility:
- Administrative and Financial Services
- Electricity Supply Analysis
- Energy Efficiency
- Energy Research and Development
- Fuels and Transportation
- Renewables
