Federal energy efficiency programs are a catalyst of innovation, investment, and technology deployment that are critical to maintaining U.S. leadership in a rapidly growing global efficiency economy.

Appropriations Advocacy 

The Alliance works closely with the broader energy efficiency community to build bipartisan support for key federal efficiency programs, including through letters, testimony, and other advocacy raising awareness of the benefits the programs deliver. During the annual appropriations process, the Alliance focuses on developing federal spending levels for critical energy efficiency programs under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), other DOE programs, and ENERGY STAR under the EPA. The Alliance also advocates for strong report language to provide clear direction to the agencies to ensure timely disbursement of funds, a comprehensive RDD&D portfolio, and a strong continued commitment to efficiency and innovation. Through this outreach, the Alliance serves as a bridge between the energy efficiency community and Congress, and as a trusted resource for Members of Congress and staff.
