Longtime Alliance supporter Tom Catania is known for his impressive career as Vice President of Government Relations at Whirlpool Corporation, as well as an equally impressive vocation as an energy efficiency champion.
After being named Vice President of Government Relations of Whirlpool in July 1997, Catania brought the executive management of the corporation’s government relations function to operate at a higher level, driving results-based actions and adding tangible value to Whirlpool’s bottom line. In this position, Catania provided policy direction, lobbied governments in the United States and abroad, and represented Whirlpool at a variety of organizations. After 25 years of service to Whirlpool Corporation, Catania decided to retire from the company at the end of 2011.
As a friend of the Alliance, Catania has been instrumental in the planning and implementation of EE Global, which Whirlpool has supported as a founding-level sponsor since its inception in 2007. Catania also spoke at the 2010 EE Global during a best practices dialogue session and an education dialogue session, and served as a panelist at the 2010 Alliance Policy Summit.
In fact, Catania will represent Whirlpool at EE Global in March 2012, where he will receive a service award for his role in advancing energy efficiency. He also will represent Whirlpool at COP17 in Durban, South Africa, in 2011.
