Washington, D.C., June 7, 2011 – Thanks to a donation from North America’s largest integrated energy company, Direct Energy, eight schools in the North Penn School District north of Philadelphia and eight charter schools in the Pittsburgh area will use energy efficiency to work to cut their electricity costs by 5 to 15 percent under the auspices of the Alliance to Save Energy’s Green Schools Program.

After last month’s introduction of the Shaheen-Portman energy efficiency bill (S. 1000), the Alliance policy team has been working doggedly on the Hill to line up support in advance of the June 9 Senate Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) Committee hearing.

Even with national gas prices at more than $3.80 per gallon, you can still drive to the beach and plan fun summer road trips by checking vehicle maintenance, and enabling smart driving and commuting.

Don’t let today’s high gas prices keep you at home this summer or prevent you from driving to the beach. Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas is currently more than $3.80 – that’s about a dollar more than last year at this time.

Those gas expenditures can add up.

Nationwide, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gas is currently more than $3.80 – that’s lower than a week ago or a month ago, but about a dollar more than last year at this time.
