The Alliance to Save Energy today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for putting reason before politics in rejecting a bill that would have pulled the plug on energy-efficient lighting standards.

Washington, D.C., July 12, 2011 – The Alliance to Save Energy today applauded the U.S. House of Representatives for putting reason before politics in rejecting a bill that would have pulled the plug on energy-efficient lighting standards.

House Refuses to Pull Plug on Energy-Efficient Lighting

In a show of support for energy efficiency, the U.S. House of Representatives voted against a bill that would have turned back time on the way Americans light their homes. If the bill became law, it would have forced U.S. families to miss out on significant energy savings.

In a show of support for energy efficiency, the U.S. House of Representatives voted against a bill that would have turned back time on the way Americans light their homes.

Congress voted down the politically named “Better Use of Light Bulbs” (BULB) Act, which was sponsored by Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas), on a 233-193 vote, missing by 40 votes the two-thirds majority needed for passage.

Percy Award for Public Service at its annual, black-tie gala, the 19th annual Evening with the Stars of Energy Efficiency, to be held here October 4. The award recognizes an individual’s outstanding public service and/or lifetime commitment to energy efficiency.
