Energy efficiency provides an international solution to some of today's greatest challenges.

Cost-Effective Solutions to Global Issues

New market drivers are rapidly expanding the market for energy-efficient goods and services in developing and transitional countries. Though a number of barriers still remain, the energy efficiency market in developing and transitional countries is more robust and vibrant than it was when the Alliance was founded in 1977.

Energy efficiency provides the international community with powerful, cost-effective means to a sustainable future. Energy efficiency can reduce fuel costs, contribute to job growth and improve the lives of consumers worldwide, all while reducing environmental damage.

The Alliance works to achieve energy efficiency throughout the world through programs like Watergy, as well as sister organizations like the European Alliance to Save Energy and the Australian Alliance to Save Energy.

The Peer Review on Energy Efficiency: Helping Economies Help Themselves

Author(s):
Brian Castelli

Alliance Executive VP Brian Castelli offered energy efficiency recommendations to the Government of Viet Nam, as part of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation's Peer Review of Energy Efficiency (PREE) program. Here, Castelli discusses the PREE process that lead to the team's final published report.

In the energy efficiency community, we often talk about "global implementation" as the best way to realize energy efficiency's many environmental and economic benefits.

But like many things, global implementation is much easier said than done. Each country's energy needs are quite different, and often there's not a one-size-fits-all solution.

Pakistan's Energy Challenges: a Seminar Supported by USAID

Overcoming Pakistan's current crisis through energy efficiency and renewable energy was the topic of a seminar supported by USAID and organized by Senator (R) Rukhsana Zuberi, chairperson of the Pakistan Engineering Council and head of the non-government organization, South Asian Women in Energy.

The Alliance's Alexander Filippov was among the experts advising Pakistani representatives on energy efficiency implementation.

March 2010 – Eager to learn how energy efficiency and renewable energy can help Pakistan address its energy challenges, representatives from the country's public and private sectors gathered on February 23, 2010, for a seminar on energy conservation & environment.
