Taking Actions to Become Efficient

Industry surveys indicate that, mainly through procedural and behavioral changes, the average plant can reduce its energy consumption by 10 to 20 percent. Many companies are joining in to do their part in becoming energy efficient.

At the Alliance, we provide numerous forums for the business community to showcase the work it is doing to be energy efficient. Michelin Green X Challenge

Alliance Associate Sensor Switch Welcomes Steady Growth in Business

An industry leader in the development of energy-efficient lighting control products, Sensor Switch, Inc., announced in January that it has been chosen as one of Connecticut’s 40 fastest growing technology companies by the Connecticut Technology Council. The company reported a nearly 75 percent increase in revenue from 2004 to 2007, qualifying it for inclusion in the Energy/Environmental Technology category of this year’s Tech Top 40.

2008: It was Nice to Know You

Let’s see…2008…It was the best of times, it was the worst of times….No, wait, someone already said that…But certainly the “roller coaster ride” we took with oil and gas prices, complete with the precipitous drop in both, has to be THE top energy story of 2008. And while we can’t pin the blame for 2008’s catastrophic financial meltdown on high energy prices, they certainly put a crimp in many household and business budgets and helped wreak havoc on the bigger economic picture.

The DOE’s Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) recently announced the award of sixteen Energy Savings Performance Contracts (ESPCs) designed to help federal agencies undertake energy savings projects at no upfront cost.

Alliance's Joe Loper Testifies Before Congress

How important is energy - particularly energy efficiency - to the mechanisms of an economic stimulus package? Very important, asserts Alliance's Vice-President for Policy and Research Joe Loper, who testified before the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources on Wednesday, December 10. Among the recommendations in Loper's testimony is a call for more than $15 billion in energy efficiency investments.

On Wednesday, December 10, Joe Loper, the Alliance’s Vice-President for Policy and Research, testified at the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources to advise Congress on the Alliance's recommendations for energy efficiency in the upcoming stimulus package. Loper's testimony reflects recommendations developed over the last month by the Alliance and the Taxes and Appropriations Group (TAG), made up of more than two dozen organizations and companies.
