Rodney Sobin

Senior Policy Manager Rodney Sobin provides policy research and analysis on various topics and works on issues of evaluation, measurement and verification (EM&V) of energy efficiency projects and programs.

Prior to joining the Alliance in September 2009, he was with the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, where he worked in such areas as energy and climate, pollution prevention, innovative technology, and small business compliance assistance.

Rodney also has experience in air pollution permitting and compliance. In the late 1990s, he managed and performed environmental technology analysis, demonstration, and training tasks for the Department of Defense and other clients at Concurrent Technologies Corporation.

From 1991 until its closure in 1995, Rodney performed policy analyses for Congress at the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, including writing major sections of reports on the commercialization of innovative technologies, environment and economic competitiveness, and trade and the environment. He also worked on technology and environment topics at the World Resources Institute during 1990-91.

Rodney holds two master’s degrees in biological sciences and technology and human affairs from Washington University in St. Louis and a bachelor’s degree in biology and society from Cornell University.
