Allyson Schmutter is the Communications Project Manager at the Alliance. She is the main media contact at the Alliance and writes media releases, advisories, blogs, and website content. Allyson also works on a variety of communications efforts, including helping plan and execute media and social media strategies. Additionally, since joining the staff as a Senior Communications Associate in May 2011 with video shooting and editing skills, Allyson prepares video content for the Alliance.
Prior to joining the Alliance, Allyson worked as a reporter in two local television markets. Most recently, Allyson told stories to viewers in the “four-state area,” which includes Western Maryland, the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, Northern Virginia and Southern Pennsylvania. She covered live breaking news and reported daily packages as a general assignment reporter. Before that, Allyson worked at the Fox, ABC and My Network Television stations in Utica, New York where she hosted and produced a weekly public affairs show. Allyson cherishes her time spent emceeing community events and telethons in Utica as well.
Allyson graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications and a B.A. in Political Science from the Maxwell School.
