Energy Efficient Codes Coalition (EECC)

The Alliance to Save Energy is housing a first-of-its-kind national advocacy campaign directed to America’s code officials. The EECC is a unique, broad-based alliance of some of the nation’s top energy efficiency advocates — including government, regional energy efficiency networks, environmental groups, think tanks, architects, utilities, energy consumers and businesses.

The International Code Council prepares to update its 2009 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) in September 2008 as recognition mounts among policymakers and thought leaders that homes and other buildings – which use 40% of US energy, 75% of its electricity, and emit 40% of its greenhouse gases – must become more energy efficient. The coalition is mounting an intense integrated campaign to win ICC adoption of what we call “The 30% Solution” – improving residential energy efficiency by 30% over the 2006 IECC.

To join and contribute to this campaign or to get more information on “The 30% Solution,” contact Bill Fay (bfay@ase.org) or visit the website at http://thirtypercentsolution.org.
