The Alliance to Save Energy operates energy efficiency programs and collaborative projects throughout the United States and in over two dozen developing and transitional countries. As a leading coalition of business, government, environmental, and consumer leaders our activities seek to promote the multiple benefits of energy efficiency at large.
Using energy wisely and eliminating energy waste is a central running theme to all Alliance programs. Below are some examples of the unique and important results-orientated activities the Alliance manages that make a real difference for people at home and abroad.
The U.S. Federal government is the nation’s single largest energy consumer yet could save over $1 billion annually if it installed currently available cost-effective energy-efficient products. The Alliance’s Federal Energy Productivity program (FEP) has been working for over ten years to help reduce our government’s energy use and capture these savings by providing training, private sector liaison, and research and analysis on financing options for energy efficiency projects.
National Policy Advocacy: A solid understanding of how energy efficiency can create a win-win situation for the economy, environment and national security is a valuable political tool. The Alliance’s Policy team works aggressively at the national level to educate and raise awareness among the government, media, and other important constituencies about the advantages investing in energy-efficient policies reap for everyone.
State Efficiency Initiatives: The Alliance harnesses the power of state driven energy-efficiency activities through its collaborative partnerships, the Responsible Energy Codes Alliance (RECA) and the Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP) and its recently launched state initiative. By building momentum for and helps place energy-efficiency central to states’ energy programs and coding practices the Alliance helps to capture energy-savings in homes and business nationwide.
Buildings and Industry: Creating a more comfortable and healthy environment and saving money for residential and commercial consumers is a key focus of the Alliance’s work in advancing state-of-the-art technologies through its efficient windows collaborative, appliance standards awareness project and promotion of the ENERGY STAR label.
Educating the Next Generation: On an annual basis schools spend more on energy than on computers and textbooks combined. Through the Alliance’s Green Schools Program, schools and universities in the U.S. and overseas learn how to reduce their energy expenditure through hands-on real-world projects, and no-cost behavior and operation changes that help funnel money back to the classroom instead of the local utilities.
International Efficiency Initiatives: Focused on developing and transitional countries the Alliance pioneers innovative solutions and training programs to tackle urban energy and environmental problems, the delivery of cost-effective water services and the growth of energy-saving products and services.
Communications and Marketing: The Alliance is unique in the services it provides and the groups it brings together. Working alongside the media, the Alliance magnifies this message and positions itself as the best resource of up-to-date information available on energy efficiency.
Corporate Energy Management: Partnering with suppliers of energy-efficient equipment and services, government agencies, trade associations and energy producers, the Alliance trains companies how to improve productivity and bottom-line performance through the adoption of system efficiency improvements and industrial BestPractices.
