Alliance for Sustainable Energy LLC/National Renewable Energy Laboratory

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado, is the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy-efficiency research and development. The Laboratory’s research capabilities range from fundamental science to technology applications, with major programs encompassing: solar (photovoltaics, concentrating solar power and solar heating); wind energy; bioenergy; hydrogen and fuel cells; advanced vehicle technologies and fuels; building technologies (building efficiency, zero energy buildings); energy analysis; distributed energy and fundamental energy science. Its work focuses on advancing renewable energy and energy-efficiency technologies from concept to commercialization. The Laboratory partners with industry to move technologies to the marketplace. NREL is managed for DOE by Midwest Research Institute and Battelle.
