Money-Saving Summer Road Trip Tips Video, Podcasts by NASCAR Driver Available on Drive Smarter Challenge Website
Washington, D.C., July 2009 – While summer road trips offer a brief escape from today's economic and other realities, smart and frugal drivers are looking for ways to cut their gasoline costs in this economy during the heavier summer driving season.
The Alliance to Save Energy provides more than a dozen summer road trip tips to help drivers save money on gasoline from planning the trip through conclusion. Five essential planning tips and decisions can save substantial cash.
Downloadable video in a variety of formats for both on-air broadcasts and websites illustrates most of the driving and vehicle maintenance tips on the Drive Smarter Challenge broadband media web page.
Video options also include a 60-second complete newscast segment on road trips, highway and in-town footage, gas station shots with morphing changing gasoline prices, and sound bites by Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan and American Petroleum Institute Chief Economist John Felmy.

The Alliance, API, and NASCAR are among 14 total diverse nonprofit, governmental, trade association, and for-profit partners in the Drive Smarter Challenge fuel efficiency campaign which provides vacationers and everyday drivers with hundreds of dollars of money-saving gas tips, resources, rebates, and myth busters on an interactive website (drivesmarterchallenge.org) that responds to the call of frugal drivers.
