The Alliance to Save Energy is currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Events & Marketing Intern. This intern will gain experience in large-scale conference planning alongside the exceedingly personable and knowledgeable Events & Marketing team. The ideal candidate is friendly and ambitious with a strong interest and background in meeting and/or event coordination.
The internship begins immediately and extends through May 24, 2013 (with opportunity for extension) at Alliance headquarters in Washington, D.C. The intern will be paid ($11/hour) and will also receive a monthly WMATA transportation stipend.
Intern’s specific duties will include:
- Supporting the E&M team in preparation for the Energy Efficiency Global Forum, an exclusive international forum taking place in May at the DC Convention Center.
- Supporting all pre-event planning activities including but not limited to speaker management, event promotion, administrative logistics, attendee materials, and event execution.
- Assist with agenda development including issuance of speaker invitations, securing confirmations, and speaker database maintenance.
- Support follow-up activities including issuing thank you letters, updating contact lists, and compiling evaluation reports.
- Participate in and assist with preparations/minutes for event Committee meetings.
- Provide support as needed for event and Alliance marketing initiatives.
Desired skills/qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal skills
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and take ownership over projects/assignments
- Event planning experience preferred (i.e. meetings, conferences, weddings, corporate parties, fundraisers, etc)
- Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite (primarily InDesign and Photoshop) a plus
This is a full-time position and we are unable to consider applicants who will be enrolled in a full-time course load during the internship term.
