United States Senator Jeanne Shaheen is the first woman in history to be elected a Governor and a U.S. Senator, as well as the first woman to hold the position as honorary chair of the Alliance’s Board. Senator Shaheen is a member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and has worked to increase our nation’s investments in clean, alternative energy, conservation and energy efficiency. As Governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003, Shaheen enacted energy efficiency programs that saved New Hampshire families and businesses over $1 billion.

Senator Shaheen received a bachelor's degree from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and a master's degree from the University of Mississippi.
