Help us kick off Blueprint for Efficiency's 2012 speaker series with Susan Mazur-Stommen from the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy!

Susan will be discussing how we can use behavior-based strategies to achieve energy savings by changing the framework for energy decision making. Her talk will cover tackling several barriers to behavior-based program implementation, including the concept of the 'free-rider'. She'll also cover how utilities need to begin offering a more customized energy delivery experience, delivering a branded product instead of an invisible commodity.

Susan Mazur-Stommen is the Director of Behavior and Human Dimensions at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. A Fulbright recipient, Susan completed her doctorate in Cultural Anthropology at the University of California, Riverside in 2002. Questions that interest her concern the relationship between ideologies, worldviews, and material culture, in particular the built environment. Her research is multi-disciplinary, reaching across anthropology to history, sociology, and urban studies. It examines the intersection between regional histories, local aesthetics, and macro-structures such as political economies.

The Yale Center for Business and the Environment (CBEY) is pleased to launch our fifth annual online webinar series.  This year’s series will continue Blueprint for Efficiency, with an emphasis on the latest developments and opportunities for energy efficiency in the private sector. Through weekly presentations from leaders in the corporate, non-profit, and public-private arenas, we will explore a range of topics around energy efficiency.

This year’s series is a unique collaboration between the Yale Center for Business and the Environment and the Alliance to Save Energy (ASE).  Founded in 1977, the Alliance is a Washington, D.C. based nonprofit organization that works solely to promote energy efficiency worldwide through research, education, and advocacy.

Blueprint for Efficiency is supported by the Yale Center for Business & the Environment and the Alliance to Save Energy.  The series will take place from October 2011 through May 2012. It will be free and open to the public through online webcasts that will be conducted on a weekly basis.  Each presentation will be recorded and made available to the global community through Yale University's iTunesU channel.
