Jonna Hamilton is currently the Energy and Environment Legislative Assistant for Senator Dorgan (D-ND) in the U.S. Senate.  In this capacity she has written electric vehicle and transmission legislation for Senator Dorgan as well as being active in energy efficiency and renewable energy policy. Prior to joining Senator Dorgan’s staff, she was an American Association for the Advancement of Science Fellow in the Department of Agriculture, where she handled international biofuels issues.  Jonna was the 2006-2007 American Institute of Physics Congressional Fellow and worked on energy and environment policy for Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL).  Jonna received her PhD from the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Brown University in May 2006, her Master’s degree in Marine Science from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and her Bachelor’s degree from Eckerd College, where she majored in Marine Biology and International Studies. While at Brown, she was a Fulbright Fellow to Iceland and studied the diving behavior of puffins.
