John W. Jimison is Counsel to the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, advising Chairman John Dingell and the committee’s members on a range of legislative issues in energy policy. He is an energy lawyer with more than twenty years of private practice and a specialist in energy regulation and economics with 35 years of domestic and international experience.

Before rejoining the Committee staff in 2007, he served for six years as the leading national advocate for clean, efficient distributed generation and combined heat and power. Prior to opening his own office in 2003, he was a Partner in the major international law firm Cameron McKenna LLP, and earlier a Partner with Berliner, Candon & Jimison, a Washington-based energy firm. From 1982-1985, he was a Principal Administrator at the International Energy Agency in Paris, France, responsible for electricity and natural gas policy and analysis.

He is a graduate of the College of Wooster and Georgetown University Law Center, and a former Peace Corps volunteer in Somalia, East Africa.
