Bret Kadison leads the U.S. Department of Energy’s Financial Market Development Team, which is focused on expanding the role of private capital in energy efficiency through creation of secondary markets for energy efficiency lending and helping state and local governments leverage their stimulus funds through innovative, sustainable financing programs.
Prior to joining the Department of Energy, Kadison was an international corporate strategist in the energy and financial industries, with a focus on strategic business model innovation.
As an energy consultant, Kadison advised foreign and domestic utility clients on profitably integrating sustainable energy and infrastructure improvements into their corporate strategies. In addition, he provided strategic counsel to energy firms on an array of issues including organic and acquisitive growth and new product development.
Kadison has also worked across the finance industry. As a consultant at Deloitte, he advised firms in nine countries on four continents on developing streamlined global business strategies and operating models. He also served as a Vice President of Washington Mutual, where he refocused their business banking strategy on reaching the very small firms that competitors could not serve profitably.
