Second A2SE Australian Summer Study on Energy Efficiency & Decentralised Energy
With the price shock of rapidly increasing domestic and industrial energy costs, energy efficiency has never had a higher profile than it does today. It is now a major focus across all sections of the community. Meanwhile, federal and state government programs are driving a huge expansion of efficiency initiatives.
The Summer Study is a three day residential forum for learning, sharing ideas and being inspired. Attendees traverse the multitude of sectors and disciplines within the energy efficiency sphere. A passionate, open group, all are there for the same reason: to participate in a rich information exchange that will inform their work and increase the uptake of energy efficiency, demand management and distributed energy.
A2SE’s is the only Summer Study in the Asia-Pacific region but similar programs have been running in the US for 30 years and for 16 years in Europe. Jon Jutsen, Chair of the A²SE’s said, “Internationally they have proven to be extraordinarily informative and the quality of the speakers in our three-day program shows that we will continue that tradition. The Australian version was an immediate success, attracting over 270 experts from 17 countries.”
The 2013 Summer Study will have a strong energy end-user and international focus with an entire theme dedicated to each. The Energy Managers’ Network, which was initiated at the first Australian Summer Study, will help develop the energy users theme and the ‘International Perspectives’ track will feature thought leaders from the U.S., Asia Pacific, Europe and the developing world.
The Summer Study is run by the A²SE, an independent, not-for-profit coalition of business, government and environmental leaders which has as its key research partner the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology, Sydney.
