Insulated Siding and ENERGY STAR: The Tipping Point

Learn how insulated siding can help meet the program's thermal bridging requirements!

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), 108,000 single-family new homes were built to meet the ENERGY STAR for New Homes program specifications in 2010. EPA recently announced that more than 400 home builders across the country are committed to building to the latest version of ENERGY STAR Qualified New Homes.

Builders of new homes under the ENERGY STAR program must incorporate some type of thermal bridge reducing technique, such as the use of insulated siding. For homes in the southern United States (climate zones 1 through 4) in particular, using an R-3 insulated siding or a combination of insulated siding and sheathing will help homes comply with ENERGY STAR requirements under the mandatory thermal bridge reducer section.

To help builders, suppliers, and manufacturers learn more about how insulated siding helps southern homes achieve ENERGY STAR for New Homes status, VSI is sponsoring a webinar entitled Insulated Siding and ENERGY STAR for New Homes: The Tipping Point at four convenient times in December and January.
