The benefits of energy efficiency are typically presented in terms of reduced energy consumption and energy cost savings. Often energy efficiency has been shown to contribute to lower emissions, but many other non-energy benefits have not been systematically represented in most GDP growth models. Because non-energy benefits are not always captured by such models, the impact of energy efficiency on GDP growth is often understated.
This briefing will feature subject experts representing federal agencies, academia and the energy non-profit community to provide clear links between industrial energy efficiency and key economic indicators. Panelists will highlight prospective policy synergies between stimulating economic growth and the widespread deployment of energy efficiency across the U.S. industrial sector.
