GLOBE 2012 Agenda

THE 'DAVOS OF SUSTAINABILITY' 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Since 1990, the GLOBE™ Series of Conferences has become one of the highest-profile sustainable business summits in the world and the nexus for global networking and thought leadership on the business of the environment.
Biennially, thousands of environmental business leaders, corporate environmental managers and sustainability practitioners come together in Vancouver to explore the mutually inclusive goals of corporate sustainability and business performance.
GLOBE 2012 will offer a bold agenda in response to unprecedented developments in global environmental business policy and practice. Centered around five major themes, conference sessions will be dynamic panels where experts and audience get to react and interact on the most pressing issues. Over the years, these sessions have drawn the 'best and brightest' of the international sustainable business community, making GLOBE an outstanding networking opportunity.

Corporate Sustainability 12:00 am - 12:00 am

More and more businesses are making sustainability central to their operations to better position themselves for improved efficiency, profitability, and long-term performance. Corporate leaders and business executives will share their strategies and address how they are maintaining profitable business operations while adapting to evolving social, shareholder, consumer, and government expectations and requirements.

The Economics of Clean Energy 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Despite massive investment and growth in renewable energy and clean technology in recent years, fossil fuels will continue to power our energy needs for the foreseeable future. The future energy mix will depend largely on supply and demand factors that will be influenced by resource availability, technology pricing and innovation, and public policy and geopolitical factors - which all form part of the 'Economics of Clean Energy'. The world's leading experts on energy will discuss the key technologies and energy sources that will power our future, and provide insights on how emerging investment opportunities can be realized.

Responsible Finance & Investment 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Experts from financial institutions, venture capital firms, and governments will explore the relationship between sustainable development and finance, with a focus on clean technology investment, regulation and policy, capital markets, and responsible investment strategies.

Global Emissions Management 12:00 am - 12:00 am

While a level of uncertainty remains around the status of global carbon markets, governments and corporations alike are moving forward with their own strategies and initiatives to manage harmful greenhouse gas emissions. Governments and organizations that establish effective adaptation, mitigation, and emissions management strategies will be best positioned to manage future risks. Major players involved in developing corporate strategies and public policies for emissions management will come together to discuss current initiatives and best practices.

Cities: Green Buildings, Infrastructure & Sustainable Design 12:00 am - 12:00 am

Leaders of some of the world's greatest cities will discuss how they are making their cities more economically, socially, and environmentally vibrant places to live and do business in a more sustainable fashion. As well, leading experts who are designing and building today's urban centres will be on hand to discuss the latest in green building technologies, energy management systems, infrastructure, and design.

In addition, special sessions on Green Jobs, Education & Training; Water; and Sustainable Consumption, Supply & Retail will also be offered.
