Breakfast Briefing
The Promise and Proof of Net-Zero Energy Schools
Lead Sponsors: National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) and ASHRAE
Co-Sponsor: ASERTTI, IAPMO, Illuminating Engineering Society, NFPA, PIMA, SMACNA, SPFA, The Alliance to Save Energy
Once a distant promise, net-zero energy schools are now being built in districts across the United States. Aided by ASHRAE’s Advanced Energy Design Guides (AEDGs), these schools are benefitting their local communities and serving as models for the nation of what can be accomplished when the numerous, historically separate, building industry professions come together in pursuit of common goals. This briefing will offer a national perspective on states’ high performance and net-zero energy schools efforts, including highlights of the importance of the U.S. State Energy Program, and a cost-effective net-zero energy schools model in Kentucky.
