Watergy project in South Africa

Metamorphosis of the City, a catalog of 15 sustainable, innovative social projects implemented by organizations around the globe, features an Alliance South African Watergy project. Through the project, the Alliance and its local partner, Re-Solve Consulting, repaired plumbing in cash-strapped South African schools.

What made this Watergy project particularly innovative was the focus on both teacher training and a student awareness campaign combined with continuous hands-on water use metering and quality tests conducted by local caretakers.

ECODES, a Spanish-based sustainable development NGO, published the catalog and launched it at a workshop at the Spain Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo in October 2010.  The catalog presents projects that address climate change, energy efficiency, air quality improvement and sustainable development. Projects were selected based on their potential to be replicated around the world. “Metamorphosis of the City” is available in English, Chinese and Spanish.
