Walmart just uped the ante on corporate responsibility with a new resource that helps suppliers evaluate their sustainability.
Called the Supplier Sustainability Assessment, the webinar focuses on four areas: energy and climate; material efficiency; natural resources; and people and community.
Walmart sought input from leaders in this space, including the Alliance to Save Energy, Carbon Disclosure Project, Conservation International, Environmental Defense Fund and the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility.
"Improving energy efficiency is one of the biggest opportunities companies have to reduce costs and become more sustainable," says Walmart's Senior Manager of Sustainability Nidhi Munjal. "One of the purposes of this webinar is to help suppliers understand the importance of increased efficiency and provide information on making improvements."
Walmart will launch the webinar on Wednesday, March 31 from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m (CST) with a live question-and-answer session. Following the launch, clips and the entire webinar can be watched online on Walmart's corporate website.
