Submit Comments on Smart Grid

On Sept. 17, the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability (OE) released a request for information on how to address policy and logistical challenges to implementing the smart grid. The administration and state regulatory agencies will use comments from this RFI to develop policy on smart grid implementation.

The DOE seeks specific input regarding:

• Defining the term "smart grid,"
• Consumer benefits and challenges to smart grid deployment,
• Utility benefits and challenges associated with smart grid implementation,
• Ways policy makers at all government levels can share resources, and
• Broad, economy-wide benefits and challenges related to the smart grid.

The deadline for comments is Nov. 1.  Read the RFI in the GPO’s Federal Register.
