Yesterday, we launched LivingEfficiently.org, which is designed to serve consumers' record-breaking demand for energy efficiency information. To kick off this exciting new web portal—which will help consumers live cheaper, cleaner and better—we teamed up with NASCAR driver and environmental activist Leilani Münter who was named by Discovery Channel’s Planet Green as America’s #1 “Eco Athlete” this year. Like you, Leilani cares about saving energy and money while on the road, and she is sharing these tips in a series of videos on LivingEfficiently.org.
The LivingEfficiently.org site serves as a “one stop shop” for education about how to save energy and money in your daily lives—in your homes, on the road, at your offices and in your schools. It truly is a “sticky” site that offers a wealth of information presented in a way that we believe will keep you entertained while you learn. Please visit LivingEfficiently.org often and spread the word about it to others; and, as our operating premise here at the Alliance is to strive for continuous improvement, please do send me your comments about the new site and ways that we might make it more useful. In case you can’t tell, we’re all pretty “jazzed up” about this new consumer education and outreach tool, so I take this opportunity to publicly thank and recognize Alliance Associate Dell (www.dell.com) for making LivingEfficiently.org possible through a generous donation of $50,000 to our organization.
Dell isn't the only Alliance Associate helping to bring about an energy-efficient future through the Web. Facebook (www.facebook.com), the Alliance’s newest Associate, is giving us the opportunity to send the message of energy efficiency across its broad-reaching channels. As a Founder-level Associate, Facebook will allow the Alliance to greatly increase the awareness and adoption of energy-efficient technologies and practices worldwide, and to put money back in the pockets of Facebook’s 500 million users.
To complete the “triple crown,” the Alliance will air a series of videos that tout “better ways to save energy” and promote our new website in one of America’s most visited destinations, Times Square. The eye-catching spots, created by the Alliance’s talented, in-house communications experts, will be shown once an hour on CBS’s 520-square-foot Super Screen billboard in the heart of Times Square throughout the entire, tourist-busy month of November. I anticipate that the workers, shoppers and visitors flocking to Times Square this holiday season will take note and visit our new website. If you’re in Times Square on 42nd Street, remember to look up!
So, as you can see, the race is on at the Alliance to engage consumers around the world in our efforts to make this the decade of energy efficiency. I hope that if you’ve not already joined with us – both as a consumer and as an active Associate member of the Alliance, that you will make it your vow this Energy Awareness month to engage. Because, as always, we need your help and active participation!
Best,

Kateri Callahan
