With rising energy prices and a struggling economy, many people are looking for simple ways to save money on energy bills. The Alliance has stepped up to help consumers keep more “green” in their wallets and be more “green” for the environment.
Just in time for the winter heating season, we’re excited to introduce LivingEfficiently.org, a one-stop shop devoted to helping consumers save money and energy in all the areas they live their lives: at home, at school, at work and on the go.
Sponsored by Dell Inc., LivingEfficiently.org puts tips, tools, stories, product information and news at consumers’ fingertips. Wondering how much you’ll save by switching out an incandescent bulb for a CFL — and how to choose when you’re at the store? Check out our CFL purchasing guide for what you need to know before buying. Want to save energy at work but aren’t sure what steps to take? Learn how to save money and energy, no matter what size your office is.
Consumers can even interact with each other on the site by sharing how they have saved energy and commenting on existing resources.
To kick off LivingEfficiently.org, the Alliance has teamed up with race car driver Leilani Münter. Like consumers, Leilani is interested in saving money and helping the environment. She’s filmed a series of six short videos that will be rolled out weekly to share some of her favorite money-saving tips with consumers so they, too, can save money while they’re on the go.
LivingEfficiently.org shows consumers that individual actions, whether small or large — buying an ENERGY STAR appliance, adding insulation to a home or even driving a bit slower — has a major impact, not only on their own wallets, but also on their communities and the world at large.
“LivingEfficiently.org was designed with the consumer and the consumer’s pocketbook in mind,” said Alliance to Save Energy President Kateri Callahan. “The site also will give consumers the opportunity to contribute to the Alliance’s broader economic, environmental and energy security goals by sharing their own energy efficiency success stories and commenting on the stories posted by others.”
