February 2010 – The U.S. Department of Energy Office (DOE) of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy has launched a new website dedicated to stories of a clean energy economy.
Called Energy Empowers the site gives clean energy a human face by describing the ways energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies and programs have improved the lives of individuals, families and communities across the United States.
Whether it's the thousands of jobs created by a new Johnson Controls plant in Michigan manufacturing high-performance batteries for electric cars, or a community environmental training center in Long Island, N.Y., where construction workers acquire weatherization and retrofit skills, Energy Empowers stories show how federal, state and local governments are putting the Recovery Act's clean energy funds to work.

Businesses, organizations and communities with clean energy success stories to tell can share them with Energy Empowers. Stories can include DOE and Recovery Act projects, as well as updates on what communities, private citizens and businesses are doing to build a clean energy future.
