Date: Feb 13, 2012
EE Global 2012 will offer free workshops that will be held just before the conference begins on Tuesday, March 27. EE Global attendees can choose two of the six exclusive pre-conference workshops, which will cover topics ranging from electricity access in the developing world to industrial energy efficiency.
The World Bank and the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC) teamed up with co-hosts Alliance to Save Energy and Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) to bring you these exciting workshops. We hope you will join us for at least one!
Workshops Offer Variety of Energy Efficiency Topics
IPEEC Workshops: Sustainable Urban Habitats & Industrial EE
The IPEEC will bring its dedicated task groups to EE Global for the third year in a row, this time giving delegates the chance to attend one (or two!) exclusive workshops.
- The IPEEC-led morning session will focus on buildings, highlighting how to create sustainable cities in different regions of the world. The session will not only delve into the necessary materials and policies, but also discuss innovative financing strategies.
- The IPEEC-led afternoon session will examine industrial energy efficiency and how to promote energy management systems across sectors. Areas of focus include the ISO 50001 standard, the development of ESCOs and new tools for benchmarking EM&V.
World Bank Workshop: EE and Electricity Access in the Developing World
Building on the momentum around the UN’s declaration of sustainable energy for all, the World Bank’s morning session will give an insider’s look at using energy efficiency to ensure access to electricity in developing countries. Given that 2.5 billion people around the world do not have access to modern energy services or only have access to unreliable electricity networks, the workshop will highlight the importance of energy efficiency and government-industry partnerships in creating universal access to energy.
SEEA Workshop: Local Strategies for EE Programs in the Southeast
SEEA will bring the focus closer to home and feature BetterBuildings Neighborhood program grantees in its session about strategies for local EE programs. This workshop will take place after a day-long, closed-door summit with the grantees, and it is sure to showcase the most up-to-date and innovative strategies available today.
Alliance Workshop: Water & Energy (Two Parts)
The Alliance will host a two-part workshop showcasing one of the hottest trends in EE: Watergy. In 2011, the Alliance established the very first Watergy project in the United States and will now bring together the budding industry’s foremost thought leaders to discuss the endless opportunities that are available in every industry.
