Helping to drive down gas mileage since last May, the Drive $marter Challenge (D$C) (www.drivesmarterchallenge.org) – the fuel-efficiency campaign launched by the Alliance and 18 partners, including a number of Alliance Associates – has walked off with four communications and marketing awards for the year 2008.

Already the campaign has won three separate MarCom Awards in an international competition sponsored by the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals, which this year amassed some 5,000 entries worldwide. The D$C's unique, interactive website www.drivesmarterchallenge.org won a Platinum Award, while the overall campaign and its radio public service ads (PSAs) each won a Gold Award.

The D$C was also was named a finalist in the marketing category in the Nonprofit PR Awards sponsored by PR News, a public relations industry publication. The Alliance will learn whether its campaign will be named a winner or receive Honorable Mention at the awards event held on December 4.

If anything, these “early-bird” awards offer further encouragement to the campaign as it continues to drive home the importance of fuel-efficiency. The Alliance would like to thank all Associates and partners involved in the D$C for their support in making this one of the most important campaigns in Alliance history.
