Alliance Associate Dow Chemical is partnering with the Energy Coordinating Agency (ECA) of Philadephia and the City of Philadelphia for “Retrofit Philly”, a weatherization project to encourage Philadelphia residents – particularly those living in row homes – to green their houses.

The ECA will select the city's ‘coolest community” for the grand prize: an energy audit, a Dow “cool roof”, and Dow insulation products (complementary installation) for each participating house on the winning block.

“Dow is committed to practical, energy-efficient solutions that make a difference in people's lives. With our technology to help create cool roofs and our insulation and air sealing products, homeowners can look forward to more comfortable temperatures in their homes and significant savings on their monthly energy bills,” says Scott Young, global director of the Energy Efficiency Portfolio at Dow Building Solutions.

According to Jerome Peribere, president and CEO of Dow Advanced Materials, headquartered in Philadelphia, “Energy efficiency is high on our list of priorities, both in how we run our business and in how our products can improve it for others. Seeing how Dow makes a difference through its science and quality of its materials is extremely gratifying for us.”

Dow is providing approximately $550,000 of gift-in-kind products and training to support the initiative. We at the Alliance have seen before how friendly competition can motivate change, and we wish Dow and Philadelphia the best of luck in promoting this endeavor.
