Centerpoint Energy, which recently installed its millionth smart meter in Houston, Texas, has released results from a 500-participant study on energy data display devices. The program allowed some smart meter-enabled customers to view their energy use through a digital display. Feedback showed widespread satisfaction with the display systems; 93% indicated they were satisfied with their display and 97% said they would continue to use it. Centerpoint plans to make such displays available for customers to purchase in the future. Energy use data also is available online for customers with smart meters. The smart meter program and data display pilot were partially funded by a $200 million Recovery Act grant.
