The Building Codes Assistance Project (BCAP) educated state policymakers on the importance of building energy codes at the National Conference of State Legislatures in Chicago, August 6-9, 2012.
BCAP and regional energy efficiency organizations from the Midwest and Southeast boosted interest in energy codes with thousands of state policymakers at their exhibitor booth.
Energy Code Resources Key to Lawmaker Interest
BCAP, the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance and the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance shared critical resources to aid states in their adoption process. These valuable assets included:
- BCAP’s cost increment study on the true cost of the 2012 IECC.
- Examples of strategic compliance plans from each region of the country.
- Information on the role of utilities in building energy codes.
- Guides that take policymakers step by step through the code adoption process.
Staffers were also able to discuss adoption potentials and distribute resources directly to policymakers in over 19 states. These states represented all regions of the country
