The Alliance is pleased to announce that its 2009 Board of Directors will feature a number of new faces, as well as new positions for existing members.
Newcomers to the Board include Pacific Gas and Electric Corporation (PG&E) President and CEO Peter A. Darbee; Austin Energy General Manager Roger Duncan; and Whirlpool Corporation Executive Vice President David T. Szczupak.
New Alliance 2009 Board officers will be First Vice Chair Robert J. Dixon of Siemens Building Technologies and Secretary Rich Wells of The Dow Chemical Company. Our new officers will be joined by returning Chairman Jim Rogers of Duke Energy and Treasurer Rob Pratt of the Henry P. Kendall Foundation.
Says Alliance President Kateri Callahan, "Each new Board member brings an important personal and professional commitment to energy efficiency," reflecting a broad pool of energy efficiency knowledge, training and dedication that is characteristic of Alliance partners.
According to Jim Rogers, "Peter Darbee, a recognized, innovative leader of the utility industry, brings tremendous vision and leadership skills. Roger Duncan and Dave Szczupak will each fill a key role in the Board's makeup – Duncan as a representative of the public power sector, and Szczupak with his significant prior experience in the automotive industry."
The newcomers join a talented group of long-standing, experienced government and industry leaders who have a solid track record of promoting energy efficiency across party lines and sectors. Honorary Chairman Senator Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Honorary Vice Chairs Congressman Zach Wamp (R-Tenn.) and Ed Markey (D - Mass.), and Jeffrey Rea are just a few Board veterans who, while taking on new roles in both government and industry, will continue to help the Alliance reach new milestones in 2009 and beyond.
