The newly formed Alliance for an Energy-Efficient Economy (AEEE) is an industry association supporting the vision of an energy-efficient India. The brainchild of Hema Hattangady, CEO of Conzerv and board member of Efficiency Valuation Organization, the AEEE is supported by a leading ESCO (DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd., or DSCL), top-rated energy efficiency (EE) companies in India, and USAID’s ECO III project. The Alliance to Save Energy is actively involved in AEEE and is providing secretarial support under the ECO III project. On AEEE’s Board will sit a number of International Advisors, including a representative from the Alliance U.S. office.

Says Hema Hattangady, “AEEE brings together industry on a common platform to work with the Government to reduce the energy intensity in the country and address climate change concerns.”

Dr. Satish Kumar, COP, USAID ECO III project adds, “The Objective of AEEE is to help enhance the triple bottom-line of companies by addressing global warming in the context of rising aspirations of Indian population and the national sustainable policy that will be needed to mitigate it.”

Says Sudha Setty, Senior Program Manager at the Alliance to Save Energy, India, “It is an exciting time here as the energy efficiency industry joins hands with the government to create an energy-efficient India. We are pleased that the Alliance is playing an integral part in this movement towards promoting and sustaining an energy-efficient economy in India.”

Drawing inspiration from the Alliance to Save Energy and American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, the AEEE’s specific purpose is to facilitate collaboration among the country’s energy efficiency industries and service providers by enabling them to act jointly as the policy think tank that supports the government’s energy conservation and energy efficiency policy implementation, market development, and implementation of energy efficiency improvements in all sectors of India’s economy. The founding members and supporting partners have established AEEE to provide a means for professional cooperation among market players for addressing India’s energy intensity and projected increases in energy demand, now and into the future.
