Alliance to Save Energy’s Interactive Business Energy Checkup Shows Ways to Cut Operating Costs, Pollution Businesses seeking to cut their energy bills and reduce their greenhouse gas emissions can get a wealth of information from the Alliance to Save Energy’s new interactive web site www.ase.org/checkup/business. Business Energy Checkup is a free resource that helps businesses identify the benefits and costs of a wide range of energy efficiency options for their building(s). "Business Energy Checkup takes the guesswork out of business energy-efficiency improvements," says Alliance President David M. Nemtzow. Guiding users through the five stages of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Buildings program, Business Energy Checkup shows users a pathway to reducing operating costs and lowering air pollution emissions. Business Energy Checkup also provides links to other web sites for follow-up on further analysis and product purchasing. "Energy production and use account for nearly 80 percent of air pollution, more than 88 percent of heat-trapping greenhouse gas emissions, and more environmental damage than any other human activity," reports Nemtzow. "Fortunately, affordable energy-efficient technologies and products can improve businesses’ bottom-line, meet their modern-day energy needs and help them pollute less." An interactive and graphically enhanced version of Business Energy Checkup is also available as a stand-alone software program that users can download at no cost and run on their computer. The downloadable version is recommended for those who would like to run the program without being on the Internet, would like to save their work for future reference, or would like to print the results for themselves and others. Home Energy Checkup is also available on the Alliance web site www.ase.org/checkup/home/. Home Energy Checkup is a guide to saving money and increasing comfort in the home while reducing energy use and pollution at the same time!
