The Watts jumped out to a commanding lead – 11-2 less than three innings in. But shaky defense sowed an evil seed, And suddenly, we Watts were down again. Our psyches traumatized, our hitting failed. And by the final frame the odds were slim – With just two outs to go, by five we trailed; Our eyes, our hearts, our souls – they all were grim. But wait! Our sleeping bats awoke once more! Before those two outs came, sev’n runs would score! Up two, we needed but to hold our foes. Alas, they rallied too - and so it goes. |
